Stephen Allison is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute (Bachelor’s in History) and John Marshall Law School. In 1997, Stephen was sworn into the practice of law and he spent twenty years as an attorney assisting clients in the mountain counties of North Georgia.
In 2008, he was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives by defeating a three-term incumbent to become the first Republican to serve his part of North Georgia since Reconstruction. Stephen served on numerous committees, including Appropriations, Energy and Telecommunications, Juvenile Justice, and Judiciary.
In 2009 Representative Allison was appointed to serve as a Deputy Whip and in 2012 he was promoted to the position of Chief Deputy Whip for the Majority Caucus where he served for over three years.
For his outstanding service in the General Assembly, he was awarded the Defender of Liberty award by the American Conservative Union, an Environmental Leadership Award from Georgia Conservation Voters and he was named 2012 Legislator of the Year from the Georgia State Firefighters Association.
In 2019, he was appointed the State Director of the Georgia Chapter of Americans for Prosperity and has served in that capacity for over two years. Stephen and his wife Regina reside in the North Georgia Mountains with their two sons, Thomas and Nathanael.
